X Factor-style show, Total Player, hits Sky Poker Channel.
The past decade has arguably been the decade of the reality show, as “talented” wannabes are plucked from obscurity in a bid to launch star careers.
Now, Sky Poker Channel, has launched Total Player, a major new TV contest to find undiscovered poker talent. The show will see three mentors select the most promising players from the Sky Poker community and help them become expert players. The winning player will then be decided by public vote and will be bought into a £100 buy-in Sky Poker Tour event, a professional tournament with a £1,000 buy-in and, ultimately, the $10,000 World Series of Poker Main event in Las Vegas. The mentor whose player wins entry into these tournaments will receive 10% of their player’s winnings.
The judges for Total Player are author, former poker editor, and broadcaster Matt Broughton, former cricketer Ed Giddens and David Tuckman. David Tuckman is the latest addition to the Sky Poker team. He’ll be no stranger to Sky Sports fans as a professional commentator on all American sports. He’s also a poker pro-turned-commentator with over 2,000 hours of poker commentary to his name.
Total Player kicked off just before Christmas on Sky Channel 865. After 7 weeks of the 13-week series, 18 players will be selected for mentoring. The players selected will be those who demonstrate outstanding play in multi-table tournaments, sit & go and cash games, where the top players every week shortlisted for consideration by the Total Player mentors.
We’ll be following the highs and lows of the chosen players in these pages, so check back next month for more news. |
